People in Hotel Lobby Terrorized by Woman with Firearm

On November 4, a 40-year-old woman from Melrose, Montana was at the Travelodge by Wyndham in Pocatello, Indiana.

The woman went into the lobby, and she was reportedly holding a gun.

Her hand was bleeding, and she called the authorities to tell them she accidentally shot herself. She also allegedly informed them that she would shoot anyone who tried to approach her.

Deputies with the Bannock County Sheriff’s Office went to the location, and when they looked in the hotel’s office, they reportedly saw a woman with what appeared to be a gun in her hand. An employee of the hotel was visible, and he was holding his hands up.

According to reports, the woman did not realize the police were there, and she walked outside of the building with the gun still in her hand.

She was immediately ordered to drop the weapon and lay on the ground, and the woman complied without incident.

While she was being cuffed, a man reported to be the woman’s boyfriend rushed up to the scene. He was patted down by the officers, and they reported that he had a speed loader and bullets in his pocket.

When the police spoke to the woman, she reportedly said her boyfriend was trying to murder her. She also told them she had been using methamphetamine.

Several people staying at the hotel heard the commotion in the office and said when they investigated, they saw the woman holding the pistol. At least two people reported that she held them at gunpoint.

The suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the Bannock County Jail. She is expected to face charges for three felony counts of aggravated assault, one felony count of discharging a firearm at an occupied building, and one misdemeanor charge for malicious injury to property.

She was incarcerated in lieu of a $75,000 bond.

Her boyfriend, who was found to have active arrest warrants, was also taken into custody.
