Wisconsin Woman Arrested After Attack on Pregnant Mother

A Wisconsin woman was arrested following accusations of a violent early-morning attack on a pregnant mother outside her workplace.

According to police, the attack happened around 7 a.m. on January 15 in Racine. The alleged victim, a mother of two who is pregnant, had just finished her shift at a group home where she works as a caregiver. As she walked outside to warm up her car, she was allegedly ambushed by two people who were waiting nearby.

Police allege the attackers were wearing masks and were armed with a metal baseball bat. Surveillance footage from a nearby Ring camera reportedly shows the pair sneaking up on the woman before the assault began.

The alleged victim later told authorities she was beaten, kicked, and stomped on while trying to protect her stomach. Police reports indicate the attackers allegedly focused several blows on her abdomen. She said she was able to identify one of the suspects because she saw her face during the attack. She later told investigators she believed the violence stemmed from a personal dispute, as she was pregnant with the suspect’s boyfriend’s child.

The police reported that a few days later, the main suspect walked into a police station and left a written statement denying any involvement. Investigators later tracked her down out of state, and the woman was arrested on January 23 in Arkansas. Another suspect was also taken into custody for allegedly helping her avoid arrest. The main suspect is reportedly facing multiple felony charges in Wisconsin, including substantial battery, aggravated battery to an unborn child, and armed robbery.

The alleged victim was hospitalized after the assault, and she and her unborn child required close medical monitoring.

At the time this was written, the authorities said they were still searching for a second suspect who was allegedly involved in the incident.
