After his 91-year-old father was rushed to the hospital with a brain bleed, a Florida man was arrested and charged for allegedly kidnapping, neglecting, and abusing his elderly parents. 

A man who lives in a home in Royal Palm Beach with his 91-year-old father and 82-year-old mother is paid to be their caregiver. 

On February 2, his father was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a brain bleed.

A Georgia woman with Alzheimer’s was arrested and jailed for domestic violence after she accidentally scratched her daughter while in a confused state.

69-year-old Annie Reynolds lives in Riverdale. She has Alzheimer’s, and her daughter Pamela is her caregiver.

On the afternoon of July 1, Reynolds walked out of her home by herself, and her daughter found her walking in the direction of a busy intersection.

A Florida man who was a caregiver for his disabled father was accused of locking the bedridden man in his room inside an unsanitary home for approximately 8 months. 

22-year-old Jonathan Woods lives with his girlfriend in Palm Beach County in his disabled dad’s home in a 55+ community. Woods, who moved into the home approximately 3 years ago after his father had several strokes, was acting as the man’s caregiver.  

Woods’ dad, who is unable to get out of bed by himself, reportedly believed that in the past few months, the standard of care that Woods was providing started to diminish.

37-year-old Kimberly Victoria Diggins lives in Port Charlotte, and used to work for Brightstar Care: In-Home Care & Medical Staffing Agency as a health aide.

On September 2, Diggins was reportedly in charge of taking care of a woman with stage 4 pancreatic cancer when the patient’s regular aide was unable to work her shift at the last minute.

Beginning at midnight, and for a period of approximately 11-hours, Diggins reportedly stayed at the residence to provide care for the woman. The patient and her spouse slept through the night while Diggins was at their home.

A Washington County resident has been accused of keeping her care-dependent sister trapped inside of a wooden cage in an unclean home and denying the woman access to food and medications.

53-year-old Loretta Lancaster lives with her sister, 51-year-old Leona Biser, who provides care for the woman. Lancaster has reportedly suffered from meningitis since she was young, and the woman requires a caregiver to assist with her daily needs.

On November 22, a special agent with Adult Protective Services placed a call asking for law enforcement to come to Lancaster’s home when they allegedly discovered that Lancaster lives inside of a locked handmade wooden cage.

A man has been accused of appropriating more than $166,000 from his nonagenarian mother’s credit and bank accounts to purchase sexual items and online sex shows.

Shaun Joseph, 59, and his 91-year-old mother were residing together in a home in Dayton, Ohio. Joseph was caring for the daily needs of his mom, as she had become increasingly unable to do so for herself due to escalating dementia and failing eyesight.

At the start of December 2018, family members came to the Joseph household for a visit and felt that something might be amiss with the way the caregiving was being provided. They reportedly found the woman unkempt and unable to communicate, and they attributed her decline to a lack of proper care from Joseph.

A woman was taken into custody on allegations that she stole the identities of at least two of the elderly patients for whom she provided in-home health care, and used the information for her personal financial gain.

Aujana Johnson-Payne works for an agency in Orange County where she is sent on live-in assignments to clients’ homes, and she supplies them with meeting their healthcare needs. Many of the patients are senior citizens who live with debilitating symptoms after suffering strokes, developing dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other serious afflictions.

Johnson-Payne has been accused of abusing her position with two elderly patients in her care when at some point during her employment she reportedly stole their credit card or debit card information and assumed their identities to make purchases for herself.

A mother with a 2-year-old child enrolled at a daycare operating out of a woman’s home in Charlotte, North Carolina, reported the caregiver to the authorities for alleged child abuse after finding a significant amount of bruising on her daughter.

Stella Mack provides childcare out of her home-based business called “Mom’s Timeout.” The mother who filed the complaint, who requested to remain anonymous, stated that she thought Mack was a reputable person that she could trust. She discovered bruises on her daughter which worsened the next day, and that is when she notified law enforcement.

The mother claimed, “This couldn’t have been something just like a small spanking because she was bruised for four days.” Mack allegedly sent text message communication to the mom stating that she had caused the bruising, and that she did not realize she had beaten the child that badly.
