59-year-old Peter Anthony McGuire lives in Chino Hills, California.
Towards the beginning of the year, McGuire had a 22-year-old woman move into his home as his roommate.
According to reports, when the woman decided that she was going to move out of the shared residence, McGuire refused to allow her to leave.
The woman reported that for the six months that McGuire kept her captive in the home, he sexually assaulted her in several ways. She also said she endured torture and physical assault at McGuire’s hands.
On the evening of June 9, the alleged victim was able to flee from the residence.
Just before 7:30 PM, she was seen in a local park.
The woman was taken to the hospital for medical treatment of her injuries.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation, and they obtained a search warrant for McGuire’s residence.
When they went to the address, McGuire was not at the home. According to reports, the authorities found evidence supporting the alleged victim’s claims while they were at the residence.
On June 11, the authorities found McGuire in a house in Placentia, where he reportedly locked himself inside for several hours before surrendering peacefully to the police.
McGuire was taken into custody on suspicion of torture, kidnapping, mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment by violence, forcible rape, and other sex crimes, in addition to special allegations of inflicting great bodily injury during a sex offense and administering a controlled substance during the commission of a sex crime.
McGuire is incarcerated at the West Valley Detention Center where he is being held without bail.
He has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
It is reported that the alleged victim is in stable condition.
