A woman who was previously arrested by an officer and allegedly developed a romantic interest in him has been accused of breaking the glass on the door to enter the police department after hours as a part of her pursuit of the man.
28-year-old Ashley Kristen Keister was arrested in mid-2018 and allegedly developed a crush on the officer that took her into custody.
Since her arrest, Keister has allegedly been sending several daily personal messages to the officer who is the reported target of her affections. She has additionally been accused of placing calls to 911 emergency services more than once in an attempt to speak with the man.
The police chief was aware of the alleged situation regarding Keister and the officer, and he was reported as saying that he recognized that the activity from the woman had amped up in the past week or so. In an attempt to try to curtail her from what has been seen as harassment toward the officer, the chief got Keister to sign a document saying that she would leave the man alone.
Within hours of putting her signature on the paper, Keister reportedly called 911 to tell them that she was going to show up at the police station in order to locate the officer that she allegedly desired.
The police department is located inside the municipal building, and it was already closed for the evening. The surveillance cameras reportedly recorded a woman fitting Keister’s description as she made her way up to the front doors and began to bang on them while yelling. When no one responded to her she lifted the stand-up ashtray that was on the sidewalk and used it to break the glass before going inside.
Keister, who was unable to get inside of the police department itself, allegedly started going through the filing cabinets in the building. She is being accused of trying to find the files from her previous arrest as a motive for this action.
After a bit of time inside, Keister left the building and sat inside of her automobile to await the arrival of the police.
When they reached the scene the responding officers, one of which was the man that she has reportedly been harassing, alleged that Keister tried to physically fight them as they took her into custody.
Keister was booked into the county jail in lieu of $50,000 bond, and she is facing several charges including aggravated assault on a police officer, harassment by communicating lewd or threatening language, two counts of criminal mischief, two counts of institutional vandalism, loitering and prowling at night, disorderly conduct and burglary.
