Cosmetology Teacher Busted After Shoving Cop

A cosmetology instructor in Southwest Louisiana who was arrested last week for her alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident is also facing charges for reportedly pushing a police officer and possessing illegal prescription drugs.

When law enforcement responds to a domestic violence call, they sometimes uncover other illegal activity during their investigation that leads to the suspect facing a stack of criminal allegations. According to reports, one such instance occurred on September 8 at a home in Vinton. While there are currently limited details about what happened during the alleged domestic incident, it was reported that the person the police believed was the aggressor was a 44-year-old woman who teaches cosmetology at West Orange-Stark High School.

When the authorities were notified about the potential domestic unrest, officers from the Vinton Police Department went to the address to investigate. The woman, whom they believed was intoxicated, allegedly shoved one of the officers while they were interacting. She was taken to a local hospital for a medical assessment and any necessary treatment. After she was released, the woman was transported and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.

During her booking, the authorities reported that she was found with two loose pills identified as prescription stimulants, but she did not have proof that they were prescribed to her. She is facing multiple preliminary charges, including domestic abuse battery, resisting a police officer with force or violence, battery of a police officer, and producing, manufacturing, distributing, dispensing, or possessing less than 28 grams of a Schedule II controlled substance. According to records, at the time this was written, she was still incarcerated without bond, and the status of her employment with the school was unknown.
