Dog Killed When Drunk Cop Tanked Car Through Home

An officer in Philadelphia has been charged for allegedly driving while intoxicated and plowing into a residence, causing the death of a family dog and serious injuries to a woman inside.

27-year-old Gregory Campbell is an officer at the 14th District Germantown location of the Philadelphia Police Department.

On February 6, a fundraiser was held at a local tavern in honor of an officer who was killed in the line of duty.

It was reported that Campbell was one of the attendees at the event.

When the fundraiser concluded, it has been purported that Campbell headed over to a bar a few miles from the event location.

In the evening, Campbell was reportedly driving his Dodge Dart in a residential neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia.

The posted speed limit in the area was reportedly 30 MPH, but Campbell was allegedly driving 70 MPH and failed to stop at a posted sign on a street corner.

Campbell’s vehicle reportedly entered the front yard of a residence with momentum, and he crashed through the front of the home while the residents were relaxing inside with their two dogs.

The couple, who reported that they were on the couch in their home when the car busted through the wall, were both injured in the incident. One of their dogs was also killed.

The 55-year-old woman in the home sustained injuries that left her in critical condition, comprised of both of her legs being broken, and a punctured lung.

The man in the home was treated for mild injuries.

The alleged victims’ home was left with a sizeable hole in the front, and many of their belongings were destroyed.

Campbell was placed under arrest, and he is expected to face charges for suspicion of driving under the influence, aggravated assault, and criminal mischief.

He was released from custody on bond with orders prohibiting him from consuming alcohol and operating a motor vehicle.
