Drunk Driver Led Police on Chase Through Two States

A Florida man allegedly dragged a deputy who was hanging onto his car across a parking lot while in the middle of leading the authorities on a high-speed chase through two states.

Late in the evening on April 6, a man from Orlando was reportedly driving in Portsmouth, New Hampshire when officers tried to perform a traffic stop. The driver reportedly sped away, and the state police were notified.

According to reports, the man drove to a nearby Shell gas station to fuel his vehicle. The New Hampshire State Police saw the suspect and tried to interact with him, but he allegedly drove off as soon as they approached.

When he reportedly started to pull away, one of the troopers was hanging onto the vehicle and they were dragged across the ground for a short distance. After the trooper let go, the man allegedly sped off without using headlights or taillights. The trooper was taken to the hospital for treatment.

The next time the vehicle was seen was in Kittery, Maine on Interstate 95.

The driver turned off the exterior lights, and the police lost sight of the vehicle again.

It was reported that he was again spotted going north on I-95 in Portsmouth. Several officers assisted in getting the driver to stop the vehicle.

When they interacted with the man, he allegedly gave them a false identification card, and they also asserted that he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

The suspect was placed under arrest and booked into the Rockingham County Jail. He is expected to face several charges, including two felony counts of reckless conduct, a single count of felony second-degree assault, three misdemeanor counts of disobeying an officer, two misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest, two misdemeanor counts of aggravated driving under the influence of liquor, misdemeanor driving under the influence of liquor, and operating after revocation or suspension charges.
