Suspect Took Off with Patrol Car During Arrest

A woman who was allegedly driving under the influence reportedly stole a patrol car while in handcuffs and forced the police to chase her.

On the night of April 25, 27-year-old Jennifer Karol Cunningham of White Bluff was driving in Dixon County when officers saw her and got the impression that she was driving under the influence.

When they tried to perform a traffic stop, Cunningham reportedly tried to drive away. The woman only allegedly halted when her vehicle became inoperable.

The police reported that when they interacted with Cunningham, she refused to cooperate and resisted until a deputy was allegedly forced to tase her.

Cunningham’s arms were handcuffed behind her back before she was placed into the police vehicle.

When the woman was sitting in the back seat, she reportedly managed to bring her arms in front of her. Cunningham allegedly climbed through the partition and into the driver’s seat before driving away in the patrol car.

According to reports, Cunningham struck another police vehicle, and the authorities were able to quickly detain her.

Cunningham was booked in lieu of a $166,000 bond. She is currently expected to face charges for a second-offense DUI, felony theft, two counts of vandalism of government property, felony evading, two counts of tampering with evidence, two counts of simple possession, introduction of contraband, fourth offense of driving on a revoked license, escape, resisting stop, halt, two counts of frisk, two counts of reckless endangerment with a weapon, aggravated assault, assault, and leaving the scene of an accident. She also had an outstanding warrant from Dickson County for failure to appear.

Tennessee Highway Patrol made a request for Cunningham to face an additional charge for operating the patrol vehicle.
