Woman Endangered Youngsters when Driving Under the Influence

A Pennsylvania woman is facing many charges after being pulled over and accused of driving under the influence and allegedly endangering two children.

Just before midnight on October 28, a woman was driving when an officer noticed that she had a headlight and two headlights out.

When the officer tried to perform a traffic stop, the driver reportedly veered across the lanes into oncoming traffic and pulled over on the wrong side of the street.

According to reports, the 47-year-old woman had two children, ages 5 and 7, as passengers in the vehicle.

The officer spoke to the woman, and they reported that she appeared as though she was under the influence of an intoxicant.

It was reported that she performed poorly on the roadside sobriety tests, and the woman allegedly informed the officers that she drank alcohol hours before she drove, but that she smoked marijuana right before leaving the house.

They tried to affix the handcuffs on the suspect, but she allegedly began to struggle by kicking, spitting and cursing at the police.

After she was successfully placed in the police car, the woman reportedly slammed the handcuffs against the plexiglass divider between the front and back of the car.

The woman was taken to the York County Booking Center. She is preliminarily facing several charges, including one felony count of aggravated assault, one felony count of aggravated harassment by a prisoner, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, misdemeanor recklessly endangering another person, misdemeanor institutional vandalism, misdemeanor resisting arrest or other law enforcement, misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance, and traffic infractions for general lighting requirements (rear lighting) and driving on roadways laned for traffic.
