Wrestler Jeff Hardy from AEW was arrested for his third DUI in less than ten years after the police allegedly found him behind the wheel with a blood-alcohol level more than triple the legal limit.
44-year-old Jeff Hardy began his wrestling career in 1994 and became notorious for his work with the WWE. He is currently a professional wrestler with All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Last week, Hardy was in Florida for a scheduled wrestling match.
Just after midnight on June 27, Hardy was reportedly driving in Volusia County in a Dodge Charger.
According to the police, several people notified them and reported that they saw someone driving a Charger erratically on the highway.
Officers located the vehicle they believed the callers reported, and they alleged that the driver was speeding, in addition to swerving outside of his lane and riding on the shoulder.
The police performed a traffic stop, and when they identified Hardy, they reported that he was driving with a suspended license. It was also reported that Hardy was convicted of 2 prior DUIs in North Carolina in 2017 and 2018.
The officers asserted that they smelled alcohol while they were talking to Hardy.
After failing the roadside sobriety testing, he was taken into custody.
Hardy was booked into the Volusia County Jail on suspicion of third-degree felony DUI, driving on a canceled/revoked license, and violating a restriction requiring him to have a DUI interlock device in his car.
When his blood-alcohol level was tested, the results displayed .294 and .291.
In response to the arrest, AEW has suspended Hardy without pay, and he must enter a treatment program, for which they will cover the cost. It was reported that Hardy agreed to the offer they presented.
