Cops in Donut Shop Arrested Three in Unexpected Bust

Three suspects were apprehended for an alleged home invasion and drug crimes after paraphernalia reportedly dropped out of one of their pockets in front of officers taking a coffee break at a local coffee shop.

At approximately 3:00 am last Monday, officers with the Chico Police Department took a trip to the Donut Nook for coffee.

A vehicle containing a female driver and two passengers entered the parking lot of the establishment while the police were on the premises.

The cops reportedly watched as the driver exited the car and allegedly had what appeared to be drug paraphernalia drop out of her pocket and onto the ground.

The woman was identified as Shayla Robins-Bailey, 25, and the officers informed her that they planned to inspect the car and interact with the passengers.

32-year-old Matthew Considine and Joseph Lawrence, 25, were identified as the two passengers, and the authorities searched both of the men and the interior of the vehicle.

While searching the car, the police reportedly found illegal drugs, paraphernalia, two firearms, and an undisclosed amount of money.

When checking Considine, the police reported that they found out he is a felon, and he was allegedly holding a semi-automatic gun that was loaded and concealed from view.

As Lawrence interacted with the police, they also learned that he has a felony criminal record.

While the police were collecting details about possible illegal activity, the authorities received a call from a man accusing Considine and Lawrence of hitting him with a firearm and forcing him to give them cash. He also alleged that the suspects said he would be killed if he called for police intervention.

The officers reported that they found the caller’s wallet and cell phone inside of the vehicle, and they purported that the money they found belonged to the alleged victim.

Robins-Bailey was placed under arrest, and she is facing charges for suspicion of home invasion robbery, DUI of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lawrence was taken into custody for allegations of home invasion robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats, armed in the commission of a felony, felon in possession of ammunition, possession of high capacity magazine, and narcotics sales.

Considine has been charged with the same offenses as Lawrence, with the addition of possession of a concealed and loaded firearm by a felon.
