Man Broke into Apartment and Threatened Ex’s Life

A man is facing several charges after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and attacking her.

On the evening of July 31, a woman returned to her apartment after work, and when she walked through the door, she was reportedly approached by a man she previously dated for a couple of weeks. It was reported that she tried to stop him, but he entered the residence without her permission. She became concerned for her safety and locked herself in the bathroom, but the man allegedly broke through the door. He reportedly struck her until she fell into the shower, and then continued assaulting her while he asked her for a knife and threatened to murder her.

When the situation calmed down, the man reportedly said he knew what he did could cause him to go to jail. He allegedly forced the woman to go with him and get in his car. They stopped at a convenience store, and when the man went inside to get ice for her face, the woman used the opportunity to leave the vehicle. She called a ride service and went to her sister’s house.

The authorities were notified, and the alleged victim told them what happened. She said she believed the man attacked her because even though they were no longer together, he was upset because he believed she was dating someone new.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is facing preliminary charges of one felony count of burglary, one felony count of battery, one felony count of kidnapping, and one misdemeanor count of assault – domestic violence. He is currently being held without bond.
