An Indiana woman allegedly hit a stranger in the head with a meat tenderizer several times after following him when he was walking to his car.
Just before 11:00 p.m. on November 4, a man was walking to retrieve his car from a parking lot in Richmond, when he reportedly spotted a woman trailing behind him. He reportedly did not recognize her as someone he knew.
According to reports, the man reached his vehicle and sat in the driver’s seat, and the woman continued to approach him. She allegedly began hollering at him, but he did not understand what she was trying to say.
The man reportedly told her to leave, but she allegedly grabbed a hammer-like object from her pocket and him in the head with it. He exited the vehicle, and she reportedly struck him with the item several more times.
The authorities were notified, and they were informed that the suspect they were searching for was an individual wearing black pants and a black jacket. Officers with the Richmond Police Department went to the location to investigate, and when they arrived, the person they believed was responsible for the attack was still at the scene.
It was reported that the police approached the woman, and since they were told she had a hammer they checked her for weapons. One of the officers felt something, and the woman allegedly pulled a meat tenderizer from her pocket. The officer asked her why she was carrying the object, and the woman reportedly said she uses it to cook.
She was taken into custody and booked into the Wayne County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges for one count of felony battery with a deadly weapon.
