Cops Allege Mom Deserted Toddler at Chuck E. Cheese’s

A young child was discovered by himself inside of a Chuck E. Cheese’s restaurant after his mother left without him, and the woman is now facing charges for neglect.

At 5:30 pm on Saturday, a group of partygoers reportedly got together at a Chuck E. Cheese’s in Boynton Beach for a birthday celebration.

25-year-old Sharon Demetra Perry was one of the six adults in attendance and she had her son with her.

When the party was over and everyone left the restaurant Perry’s child was left inside of the establishment by himself.

Around 9:30 pm, someone inside establishment saw the young boy sitting at a table by himself. The store manager tried to find someone from the child’s party but when no one was located the authorities were alerted.

Boynton Beach police arrived and when they tried to speak to the child, who they estimated as being 2 or 3, they reported that he was not sure of his address and was not able to tell them who he or his parents were. It was noted that the boy appeared to be well taken care of and did not seem as if he had been the victim of abuse.

About half an hour after the police arrived at the restaurant one of the child’s relatives had called in to let them know that his mother was on her way back to pick up her son.

Perry arrived and spoke with the officers, reportedly explaining that she and the other people who went to the party had carpooled with the nine children and she was under the impression that her son had gotten into the car with her cousin. When she got home and realized what had happened she said that she immediately came back to get her child.

Perry was taken into custody and booked into the Palm Beach County Jail where she was charged with one count of child neglect without great bodily harm. Her bail was set at $3,000.
