Daughter Struck Dad Over Beeping Sound from Oxygen Machine

A Florida woman who lives in The Villages with her 73-year-old father is facing a felony after allegedly punching him in the head on Christmas day when she became upset about the beeping noise his oxygen machine makes.

Early in the morning on December 25, a 49-year-old woman who has shared a home with her father in the Village of Del Mar for approximately three years reportedly got into a heated argument with the man. According to reports, her dad uses an oxygen machine that makes a beeping noise, and the sound allegedly caused the woman to become irritated. She and her father reportedly began verbally fighting about the issue.

Things reportedly began to escalate, and the incident allegedly became physical. The man’s daughter allegedly hit him on the side of the head with a closed fist. She also reportedly slapped him.

The authorities were notified, and two officers accompanied by a sergeant went to the residence to investigate the alleged attack. When they arrived and spoke with the woman, she allegedly copped to striking her dad and told them he was talking to her in a disrespectful manner when she slapped him. It was reported that her father informed the police that his oxygen machine was the cause of the incident.

The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Lake County Jail, where she was held in lieu of a $1,000 bond. She is currently facing preliminary charges of one felony count of battery on a person over 65. She was released from custody the following day, and she has an upcoming arraignment date on the court calendar for January 22.
