Drunk Passenger Arrested for “Bag of Drugs”

A Florida woman is facing multiple felony charges after the police reportedly found her in possession of a purse labeled “Bag of Drugs,” which was allegedly filled with narcotics and paraphernalia.

Late in the morning on July 27 in St. Petersburg, a 41-year-old woman was riding as a passenger in her vehicle while her friend was at the wheel. A trooper from the Florida Highway Patrol spotted the vehicle and reported that they believed the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. A traffic stop was initiated, and the driver pulled over without incident.

When the trooper walked up to the car, they went to the passenger side. When they first looked inside the vehicle, they reportedly saw a piece of foil and a plastic straw on the floor and believed it had been used for drug consumption. The rest of the interior was searched, and in addition to an open container of alcohol, the authorities found a purse marked with the words “Bag of Drugs.”

When the police searched the contents of the aptly labeled bag, they reported that they found 3.25 grams of cocaine, 1.75 grams of crack cocaine, 1 gram of crystal meth, 1.5 hydromorphone pills, 2 amphetamine/dextroamphetamine pills, and 4.5 alprazolam pills. They also reportedly found a metal spoon, plastic bags with white residue, 4 glass pipes that were allegedly used for smoking narcotics, 2 straws, and a full hypodermic syringe with a needle.

The passenger was arrested and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She is facing several preliminary felony charges including possession of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of hydromorphone, possession of alprazolam, possession of amphetamine/dextroamphetamine, in addition to a misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia. Two days later, she was released from custody on a surety bond.

The driver, who said the passenger had been drinking, was also taken into custody for allegedly having an open container of alcohol in the vehicle.
