An Indiana woman is facing charges after reportedly telling her dog to “sic” the police when she was being arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol with two children in the vehicle.
On the evening of October 5, someone called the authorities to report that they saw a vehicle that they believed was being driven by someone who was intoxicated. They provided the authorities with a description of the car, and the police went out to try to locate it.
While they were searching, a 24-year-old woman from Evansville who was driving with two youngsters and a dog in her car stopped at a local gas station. She was approached by officers from the Evansville Police Department. They said they noticed the woman’s vehicle because it resembled the one they were looking for. While the officers were interacting with her, the woman was reportedly overly chatty, and they allegedly smelled alcohol on her breath. They suspected the report that the driver had been drinking was valid. When they asked her to take roadside sobriety tests, the woman declined to participate.
According to reports, the police searched the vehicle and discovered a bottle of liquor stashed in the door pocket on the driver’s side. Upon further inspection, they reportedly found that the bottle was open. As they arrested the woman, she reportedly told the officers that the dog in the vehicle was dangerous, and allegedly commanded the canine to “sic” them.
The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Vanderburgh County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, intimidation, and neglect of a dependent. Facility records indicate that she is being held without bail.
