A Florida man was arrested after a couple allegedly found him hiding under their bed at a hotel in Doral.
The suspect had previously stayed at the hotel, but the security manager told police he had checked out on August 31, and he was informed that he could not return. According to an arrest affidavit, he came back about two days later to collect belongings and was escorted off the property.
Police alleged that the suspect returned again on September 10 and entered an occupied hotel room by jumping over a balcony fence and going through a rear sliding glass door. He then allegedly hid underneath the bed while the couple slept.
The couple had checked into the room on September 9. The woman was staying in the room with a companion when she made the discovery. She told police that she first thought she felt movement near the bed around 4 a.m. She fell back asleep, but felt movement again at about 6:30 a.m., and this time it seemed like it was coming from underneath the bed.
Just before 8:00 a.m., the woman looked underneath the bed because she wanted to check whether she had left or misplaced belongings. According to the affidavit, she allegedly saw the suspect hiding there.
The couple immediately left the room and went to hotel security for assistance. Police arrested the suspect that same day.
The man was booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail. He is facing a preliminary felony charge of burglary of an occupied dwelling, in addition to a misdemeanor charge of resisting an officer without violence.
