A woman in West Virginia is facing charges after she was accused of crashing into a fence while driving under the influence of alcohol with underage passengers in her car.
“Fear on the Farm” is a popular seasonal attraction in Winfield. According to its website, haunted houses, escape rooms, and rides are some of the activities guests can participate in at what it refers to as “West Virginia’s premier haunted attraction.”
Last Thursday, a mom gave her child and some of their friends a ride to Fear on the Farm, and their time in the car reportedly provided the first fright of the evening. It was reported that when they reached their destination, the woman slammed the back of the vehicle into a fence. When they got out of the car, one of the underage passengers called her mom and let her know that she thought her friend’s mother was drunk.
The authorities were notified, and the woman was still on the premises when they arrived. They asked her if she had been drinking, and she reportedly told them she was “messed up.” She was asked to take roadside sobriety tests, and it was reported that she performed poorly. She was given a breath test at the scene, and it registered a 0.336 BAC.
The woman was taken into custody. She is facing multiple preliminary charges including two counts of DUI with a minor in the vehicle, aggravated DUI, and two counts of child neglect creating the risk of injury. After her arrest, she reportedly recanted her initial statement and told the authorities she had been drinking all week, and that she was sorry for what she had done.
