Intoxicated Mom Crashed with Five Kids in Vehicle

A Florida mother with five children in her vehicle was accused of driving under the influence of alcohol after getting into an accident with another car.

On the morning of June 23, a woman was driving her Ford Explorer in Casselberry with her 5 children in the vehicle. It was reported that one of her daughters noticed she was drinking, and when the girl asked to be let out of the car with the other children, her mother allegedly said no.

After passing through an intersection, the woman and the driver of a Lexus got into a two-vehicle accident. She allegedly tossed a beer bottle into the back of the car before the police arrived.

Officers from the Casselberry Police Department went to the crash site and learned that the mother only spoke Spanish. The police could not understand the woman, but they reported that she displayed indications of intoxication. They also noted that there were five children in the car.

The police talked to the daughter, and she reportedly told them where to find the beer bottle. When the car was searched, the bottle was retrieved, in addition to a small amount of marijuana.

Seminole County Fire Rescue arrived, and they agreed with the assertion that the woman appeared to be intoxicated.

It was reported that the woman tried to walk away before she was detained, and when deputies stopped her, she reportedly became uncooperative and kicked one of the officers.

The woman, who allegedly continued struggling in the police vehicle, was taken into custody and booked into the Seminole County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of battery on an officer, resisting arrest, five counts of child neglect, and DUI. She was incarcerated in lieu of a $24,000 bond.
