A man in Louisiana reportedly took a dip in a 13,000-gallon aquarium at a Bass Pro Shops in a purported attempt to appease his audience after his TikTok post received thousands of “likes.”
On June 25, a patron at a Bass Pro Shop in Bossier City recorded a video on her cell phone when she reportedly spotted a fully-clothed man immersed in the aquarium with the fish. The woman can be heard on the recording stating that she thought the man may be in danger of drowning.
The video reportedly showed a man in the aquarium before climbing out and running out of the establishment.
When it was released on social media by the woman, the recording quickly reached “viral” status.
The Bass Pro Shop decided they would notify the authorities and take legal action when they considered the amount of money it would take to drain, clean, and refill the tainted tank due to the alleged stunt.
Since the suspect was no longer on the premises, the police began trying to locate him, and he was apprehended when he returned to the scene of the alleged crime.
The man, identified as 26-year-old Slidell resident Kevin Wise, went back to the store and reportedly explained his antics.
Wise said that after he reportedly made a post on the social media site TikTok, stating that if he received 2,000 “likes,” he would take the dip in the aquarium.
When Wise “got way more than that and didn’t want to be a liar,” he reportedly headed to the store and got into the tank.
Wise was placed under arrest, and he is expected to face a misdemeanor charge for suspicion of simple criminal damage to property. He was cited and released for the allegations.
