40-year-old Jeremy Lee Pauley lives in Enola, Pennsylvania. According to reports, Pauley is self-described as someone who collects “oddities.” He uses a Facebook page called “The Grand Wunderkammer” as a place to list human bones and other items for sales. Pauley is also a curator at the Memento Mori Museum where they “strive to provide learning experiences to enhance curiosity and interest in human anatomy, cultural differences in views of death, and shed light on interesting bits of history outside of normal education.”
The authorities were tipped off by someone who thought that suspicious activities were taking place at Pauley’s residence.
When the police inspected the premises, they reported that they found bones and remains that they learned had been obtained legally.
After they received a second notification from someone claiming that Pauley had procured additional body parts, the home was investigated again.
It was reported that the authorities discovered buckets containing many different body parts. Some of them appeared as if they belonged to children.
The situation was investigated, and the police reported that they learned Pauley set up a deal to purchase body parts for $4,000 from a woman who works at a mortuary. It is asserted that she stole the remains from her place of employment.
On July 22, Pauley was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of abuse of a corpse, receiving stolen property, and dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities.
Pauley was released on August 18 after posting a $50,000 bond.
The Arkansas Central Mortuary Services planned to donate the human remains to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences before they were allegedly swiped by the employee.
The woman is not currently facing criminal charges.
