Minnesota Student Arrested for Threats Against Frat Members

A Minnesota college student was taken into custody after the authorities said he made multiple threats involving a campus fraternity and was later found carrying weapons.

According to court documents, the investigation began when a fraternity member alerted campus public safety at a university in St. Cloud. The student claimed another individual had allegedly been making statements about carrying out a shooting at the fraternity house after being rejected from joining.

The situation escalated weeks after an earlier incident in which the suspect allegedly believed someone had been sent to attack him. The authorities said he later confronted a fraternity member on campus, approaching from behind in a skyway and questioning whether that person had arranged the prior assault. During that encounter, he allegedly made threatening remarks, including statements about killing whoever was responsible and suggesting he would act even if the person he was speaking to was involved.

Investigators also documented other alleged comments in which the suspect claimed he owned firearms and wanted others to know he could harm them. In one instance, he reportedly referenced a traffic light near the fraternity house and described a scenario inspired by the series Squid Game, allegedly suggesting a deadly version of “Red Light, Green Light” involving a gun.

When the authorities located the suspect on campus, he was in a classroom and denied making threats. A search of his belongings reportedly uncovered a loaded handgun with additional ammunition, along with a knife and what were described as replica firearms.

Court records indicated the suspect had previously been found incompetent to stand trial in multiple cases, which prohibited him from possessing firearms.

He was later booked into the county jail and held on bail after being charged with felony counts related to threats of violence, along with misdemeanor weapons offenses.
