A man in southeastern Ohio was arrested at the beginning of December after an alleged mishap during a banking transaction resulted in his being accused of sending methamphetamine through a drive-thru tube.
According to reports, on December 3, an individual in a truck pulled up to a drive-thru at a bank in Woodsfield. The driver, described as a 46-year-old local man, loaded the air tube and sent it through to the teller. When it was received and opened, bank employees alleged that the tube contained more than just the items needed for his transaction. It was reported as being a small plastic bag with something inside that looked like a narcotic substance.
After the authorities were notified about the situation, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office started an investigation. It was concluded that the item was likely placed in the tube by the suspect accidentally. When they tested the contents, the authorities reported that it showed positive results for methamphetamine. Law enforcement believed they knew the identity of the man who made the allegedly illicit deposit, and they began looking for him.
Later the same day, about three hours away from the bank, officers from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources believed they saw the suspect’s vehicle. Deputies went to the location, and it was reported that when they searched the truck, they found what appeared to be more narcotics.
At the time this was written, there were no readily available reports about the potential criminal charges the man may be facing, but he was taken into custody and booked into the Monroe County Jail. According to facility records, no one with the suspect’s name was listed as an inmate.
