A well-respected Ohio meteorologist was found nearly unconscious after a brutal assault in his home that was allegedly carried out by his son.
Jon Loufman is married to Julia Loufman, and they have a son named Daniel. They live in Bay Village, Ohio.
In 2002, Loufman was hired as a meteorologist for WOIO. He was inducted into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame the same year. Laufman is also on the Advisory Committee for Community Continuing Education at Cuyahoga Community College, and he was an instructor of meteorology at Case Western Reserve University and Lakeland Community College.
Late in the afternoon on July 8, the authorities were notified about a man who was experiencing symptoms of a heart attack in Bay Village.
Officers from the Bay Village Police Department went to the home, and they reportedly found that Loufman looked like he had been horribly beaten. The man was reportedly unable to speak, and he was fading in and out of consciousness.
When he was able to give details to the officers, Loufman reportedly told them that his son had attacked and assaulted him. The reason for the alleged attack has not yet been disclosed.
Shortly after the incident occurred, the police took Daniel into custody on suspicion of felonious assault. He was incarcerated on a $1 M bond.
Julia was also taken into custody for obstructing justice, and she is being held in lieu of a $30,000 bond.
During their arraignments on July 11, both Daniel and Julia entered pleas of not guilty to the charges.
At the time that this was written, it was reported that Jon was in stable condition, but he was still recovering from injuries and a heart attack.
