An Indiana man is facing several charges after a domestic dispute where he allegedly held a woman against her will after threatening and physically harming her.
On January 4, a man and woman were at home in Leesburg when they began to get into a disagreement. It was reported that a remote control for the TV was the source of the alleged contention.
The dispute reportedly escalated, and the man allegedly grabbed the woman and held her in place. He reportedly used the heel of his hand to strike her in the face.
According to reports, the man grabbed the alleged victim’s cell phone when she tried to call the authorities. She ran through the garage to try to call from a neighbor’s home, but the man was reportedly able to close the door before she got out.
She eventually escaped, and the woman went to a neighbor’s house. She notified the police about the situation.
A deputy with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office went to the site, and they spoke to the woman about what happened.
It was reported that she told them about how the man caused her physical pain, and the deputy recorded that she had injuries that looked as if they were incurred in the way she described.
The woman also informed the deputy that the man threatened her with hot food, saying he would dump it on her body.
When the deputy spoke to the suspect, he reportedly admitted to the threats, taking her phone and closing the garage door. He added that the woman pulled his hair.
The man was placed under arrest and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail. He is facing charges for suspicion of felony criminal confinement, felony domestic battery resulting in moderate injury, misdemeanor domestic battery, misdemeanor interference with reporting a crime, and misdemeanor intimidation. He was incarcerated in lieu of a $5,250 bond.
