Sleeping Man Injured when Ex-Wife Yanked Off His CPAP

The live-in ex-wife of a Florida man allegedly disturbed his sleep and left him with a bloody injury when she reportedly tore the CPAP machine off his face because she was angry.

According to reports, a man and woman who were married until 2009 recently began residing together in a home in St. Petersburg, despite the dissolution of their legal union.

It was reported that early in the morning on August 1, the 42-year-old man was sleeping in his bed with a CPAP machine attachment on his face. According to the police report, the man’s 42-year-old former spouse had been drinking alcohol, and she allegedly entered the room.

The woman was reportedly angry, and she allegedly yanked the CPAP off his face, causing the man to awaken. The reason for the dispute was not recorded in the affidavit, but she reportedly began verbally attacking her ex as soon as he was conscious.

Just before 4:00 AM, the authorities were notified about the alleged domestic unrest. Deputies from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office went to the home to check on the situation that was reported.

When they arrived, they noticed that the man had an injury on his lip that was bleeding. When they were told that the woman pulled the breathing assistance device off his face, they believed his injury was likely caused by the alleged action.

The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Pinellas County Jail. She may be charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery.

She was released on her own recognizance the next day with the stipulation that she is not allowed to have any contact with the alleged victim.
