A college student from Missouri was arrested and banned from the school campus after being accused of violently assaulting a fellow classmate during a situation that reportedly began when they deleted him from Snapchat.
According to reports, at the end of September, an 18-year-old man from Kansas who attends the University of Missouri realized that one of his female classmates had removed him from Snapchat. The man reportedly confronted her about it, and things allegedly became violent when he reportedly grabbed her by the throat hard enough to leave marks. After the alleged assault, the woman added him back to her Snapchat. A few days later, the man reportedly sent her messages expressing that he was sorry he had choked her, but during an online chat two days later, when the woman mentioned that he had hurt her, he allegedly told her he hated her and would do it again.
On October 29, the man was invited to his classmate’s room, and while there, he reportedly initiated physical intimacy. The woman told him she wanted to go to sleep, and he allegedly put his hands around her neck, squeezing until she blacked out for a few moments. Later that day, the pair reportedly had a physical altercation in the school parking lot, and the man said it started because the woman began chasing him. When the police reviewed surveillance video, they asserted that it did not appear to have happened the way he described.
The man was taken into custody and booked into the Boone County Jail. He is facing preliminary charges of two counts of felony domestic assault in the second degree, one count of first-degree domestic assault causing serious physical injury, a misdemeanor, and one count of burglary in the first degree, in addition to receiving a summons for purchasing / attempting to purchase (or possession) of liquor by a minor. At the time this was written, facility records showed that he was still behind bars without bond.
