Suspect Tried to Kidnap Pre-Teens by Asking for Directions

A man was arrested after he allegedly drove up to several different young women and asked for directions in a purported attempt to kidnap them.

According to reports, last week, a man was driving around in the Houston residential areas of Pasadena and Deer Park.

On at least three separate occasions, the man reportedly saw young girls walking by themselves and pulled over to ask them for directions.

In Deer Park, an 11-year-old girl was walking to school when a vehicle pulled up alongside her.

It was reported that the man, who was driving a sedan, was trying to get the girl to converse with him, but she did not speak. He reportedly asked her if she could give him directions to the Jimmy Burke Activity Center in Deer Park, but the girl quickly walked away.

In two instances in Pasadena, a man, also reported as driving a sedan, approached two different young women at separate times.

One of the alleged victims, a 15-year-old girl, reported that the man tried to ask for directions to the Jimmy Burke Activity Center. The man told her that he was unable to hear her when she spoke, and he asked her to come closer. According to reports, the man held the girl at gunpoint and tried to force her to get into his vehicle, but she ran away.

The police collected information from the victims about the suspect and their interactions with him.

Based on the discoveries made during their investigation, they believed the perpetrator was 25-year-old Chase Brefczynski.

Brefczynski was taken into custody in Lufkin on his birthday. He was booked into the Harris County Jail, and he is facing charges for suspicion of aggravated kidnapping.

His bond was set at $75,000, and Brefczynski will be placed on house arrest and prohibited from being in the vicinity of children under the age of 17 if he is released from custody.
