A Florida man believed to have called 911 at least 45 times in six months was arrested for allegedly making a false bomb threat and assaulting the responding police officers.

On September 11, a man in Melbourne called 911 and reportedly told the dispatcher he planned to use a homemade explosive device to blow up a local causeway. The dispatcher believed they recognized his voice as an individual who had called approximately 45 times in a six month period. The report was still taken seriously, and law enforcement from the City of Melbourne Police headed to the location.

The caller stayed on the phone with the dispatcher, and according to the police report, he claimed he had previously blown up other causeways, had an AK-47 and other guns, and kills for a living. It was additionally noted that he said he was affiliated with a street gang and the mob. When officers got to the location, they reported that they spotted a man sitting on a bench that they had encountered before, and they believed he was the person who called 911. They also noticed an open can of Bud Ice on the bench, and they assumed it belonged to him. When the suspect was being taken into custody, he allegedly became combative and threatened to harm the officers.
