A marijuana grower in Rhode Island whose grow site license was reportedly placed on a temporary hold was allegedly caught with an estimated 250 pounds of pot in the back of a U-Haul truck.

According to reports, a 44-year-old man from Brooklyn, New York, was a marijuana cultivator at a site in Hope Valley, Rhode Island. The grow site was previously reported as being licensed, but it was placed on an administrative hold due to violations, and those involved were prohibited from proceeding with their operation at the location. The man was reportedly at the site with a U-Haul, and a large-scale destruction of the marijuana was scheduled for that day. When the Rhode Island Cannabis Control Commission arrived, they spotted the U-Haul, and the grower was allegedly seen putting what looked like a large amount of marijuana in the back. They called the authorities to report the situation, and the police began investigating.

Law enforcement found what was believed to be the U-Haul the man was driving, but when they checked, they learned he was no longer in the truck. There was a wooded area next to the spot where the vehicle was ditched, and the police suspected it was where the man was hiding. A K9 unit was deployed, and the dog led its partner to a man identified as the suspect.
