According to reports, there are over one million alligators in the state of Florida, and there are several ways the state protects them from harm. Some of these include making it illegal to feed them and preventing them from being captured or keeping them or their eggs without a state license to do so, in addition to the creation of the Alligator Management Program which serves to assist with various problems involving alligators.
Early in the morning on July 31, the authorities in Cape Canaveral received a call from a man who said he was walking past a canal when he saw a white rope tied to the top rung of the metal handrail above. He reported that when he looked down, he saw an alligator at the other end, and it looked like he was stuck on the rope.
