A North Carolina woman who was reported missing more than two decades ago was recently located and arrested after the authorities discovered she had an outstanding charge dating back to the time of her disappearance.

According to reports, the woman was 38 years old when her husband reported her missing after she failed to return home from a shopping trip to a K-Mart in Martinsville, Virginia, at the end of 2001. She reportedly left him and their three children behind.

Court records from Rockingham County District Court reportedly show that the woman had been issued a citation for driving while impaired on November 11, 2001, along with a civil revocation of her driver’s license. Authorities reportedly issued an arrest warrant on December 27, 2001, after she failed to appear in court.
