When the police reportedly found a glass of what was believed to be wine in the vehicle of a New Jersey woman she claimed it was not hers before she was arrested for DUI.

Around 11:00 PM on the evening of December 29, a 41-year-old woman from Old Bridge went to Gabriella’s Italian Steakhouse in Red Bank. She reported that she stayed until they closed at 1:00 AM. When she left the establishment in her new Volvo, the woman ended up parking in the lot at Volcafe. She allegedly parked the car in a way that caught the eye of an officer from the Red Bank Police Department as he drove by, and he believed it looked suspicious.

The officer drove into the lot and parked, and when he approached the car on the passenger’s side, he asked for the woman’s license, registration, and insurance. Footage from the body-worn camera shows the driver rooting around her purse, glove compartment, and a bag in the back of the vehicle, but she reportedly failed to produce the documents. She explained that she only had the car for less than a week. When asked if she had been drinking, the woman said she had no more than two or three glasses of wine in the two hours she was at the restaurant. The officer saw a glass of what appeared to be wine in the car, and the woman told him it belonged to her friend who caught a ride with her. When she got out of the car and did a roadside sobriety test, it was believed that she was intoxicated.
