A school bus driver from Minnesota who had 17 students on his bus is facing charges after allegedly working his morning shift while under the influence of alcohol.

Just after midnight on August 28, the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding a bus driver who worked for the St. Louis County School District. The caller reported that the man was supposed to drive a morning route transporting students to the South Ridge School in Culver, but said he consumed so much alcohol that he would not have enough time to sober up before operating the school bus. Minnesota’s legal blood alcohol concentration limit for most drivers is 0.08%, but they have a statute wherein those who drive a school bus are barred from having any alcohol in their system.

The authorities collected his information and got in touch with the 44-year-old man. When the police asked him about the situation, he let them know he was not going to work that day. The authorities followed up by calling the school district to confirm the information, and they reported that he was currently on the road in a school bus.

A mother in Arizona who is on probation for an assault conviction was caught on camera as she allegedly attacked her daughter’s school bus driver while youngsters were still on the bus.

On the afternoon of April 11, a 64-year-old woman was filling in for an absent bus driver and dropping off children along the regular route. When she pulled over at one of the stops, she reportedly became entangled in an encounter with the angry mother of a girl who rides the bus.

The incident, which was recorded on a camera inside the bus, reportedly started when the mom believed the bus driver said something about her child. She boarded the bus and confronted the driver, and the driver denied the accusation before telling the woman to get out of the vehicle.

A school bus driver in Utah may face several charges after he was accused of operating the vehicle with three times the legal blood-alcohol content while students were on board.

On September 15, a 57-year-old man driving a school bus for the Sevier School District was making afternoon rounds to pick up students and bring them home. One of the stops was a local elementary school, where he picked up at least six youngsters.

Someone whose name has not been released notified the authorities and expressed concern, telling them they believed the bus driver had been consuming alcohol before retrieving the children.

A man believed to be from Florida was in Pennsylvania when police accused him of stealing a school bus with a deceased deer inside. 

On the morning of April 4, the Gettysburg Pennsylvania State Police received a report that a school bus had been stolen in Abbottstown. 

Shortly after the report was made, the Carroll Township Police Station learned that the bus was seen in Dillsburg.

The driver of a school bus in Indiana has been accused of allowing three students, the youngest age 11, to drive the bus with other children onboard.

On Thursday, 27-year-old Joandrea McAtee was charged with driving the bus to deliver children home after school. While making her stops she allegedly allowed three of the children on board to take control of the wheel for a period of time, and additionally reportedly provided instructions on how to properly operate the vehicle.

The students who were allegedly allowed to drive the bus, ages 11, 13, and 17, did so while other children were passengers. They reportedly took turns at the wheel while driving in a remote, rural area.
