A man with nine priors was arrested last weekend on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol a tenth time after reportedly smashing into the back of a police vehicle at a red light.
Late in the afternoon on November 24, a man from Middletown, Delaware, was driving a Dodge Ram on Route 13 when he approached a red light. An officer with the New Castle County Division of Police had already come to a full stop, and the man reportedly slammed into their patrol vehicle. According to reports, instead of stopping to discuss the incident, the driver put the truck in reverse, turned around, and drove in the opposite direction in an alleged attempt to escape.
The officer’s vehicle was still operable, and they began pursuing the suspect. They reported that the man failed to stop at several red lights while they chased him. When the driver reached Boyd’s Center, he pulled into a Wawa convenience store parking lot. The officer was able to stop him, and they believed he was intoxicated.
