A man wanted for allegedly stealing from vehicles and breaking into a residence at the end of April was arrested after a brief foot chase when an officer spotted him walking down the street.

On April 28, it was reported that multiple people with vehicles parked at the Bally’s Hotel and Casino in Tiverton, Rhode Island, reported that they noticed belongings were missing from their automobiles. The purported thefts were reported to the police, but the suspect was not immediately found. Two days later, someone dressed similarly to the individual who was believed to be involved in the casino parking lot incident reportedly broke into a local residence, but they were no longer at the scene when the authorities learned about the situation.

The search for the suspect continued, and late in the morning on May 5, an officer from the Tiverton Police Department was patrolling when they believed they spotted the man. The officer was able to talk to him for a few minutes, but after allegedly providing a fake identity, the man reportedly tried to run away. According to reports, he fled on foot past multiple businesses and then went into a nearby wooded area. Officers continued pursuing him, and he was caught after a short chase. The police reported that a bag they assumed belonged to the man was found in the woods in the area he ran through, and it appeared to have stolen items inside.
