A road trip reportedly went south when a teenage girl who was found outside a closed convenience store told the authorities that her mother ditched her and drove away after threatening to stab her.
Early in the morning on November 9, a 42-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter were traveling through Tannersville, Pennsylvania, on their way back to their New York home. According to reports, they were struggling to get along with each other. The mom pulled into the parking lot of a convenience store, which was closed at the time. Their argument continued, and the girl’s mother tried to take away her iPad, which reportedly caused the situation to escalate.
It was reported that the woman drove away and left her daughter, and when the authorities got involved, they each provided a different account of what happened. The teenager, who was found at a different gas station nearby to the one where she was allegedly abandoned, said her mom threatened to stab her before she left in the car without her. She reported that she waited in the parking lot for a couple of hours and then headed to the location where she was found.
The police found the girl’s mother approximately 10 miles from where her daughter was, and she reportedly told them the teen got out of the car and walked off. She said she needed to get oil for her car, so she went to another gas station without the girl.
The woman was taken into custody and booked into the Monroe County Correctional Facility. She is facing multiple preliminary charges, including one count of felony endangering the welfare of a child, one count of making terroristic threats, and one count of recklessly endangering another person. It is likely that she has been released, as online records do not list her as a current inmate.
