Woman Arrested for Adding Raid to Boyfriend’s Drinks

A Florida woman is facing felony charges after she was caught allegedly spiking the drinks of the father of her child with bug spray in a purported attempt to kill him.

A 29-year-old woman who lives in DeLeon Springs with her 24-year-old boyfriend and her children, one of whom was fathered by the man, reportedly went out drinking on the evening of August 17. When she was heading home, she reportedly called her boyfriend and let him know that she had been at the bar. She allegedly told him she wanted to have drinks with him when she returned to the residence.

According to reports, the pair had a few cocktails, and the man began to feel ill. He started to vomit uncontrollably. He continued to throw up for at least half an hour before he could call 911 for help.

Deputies with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department went to the address, and when they got there, they started to talk to the alleged victim. It was reported that while he tried to give his account of the incident, he had to stop talking several times so he could vomit. Emergency Medical Services was notified, and they transported the man to Advent Health Hospital.

When deputies spoke to the woman, she allegedly told them she put Raid in her boyfriend’s drink. The authorities reportedly located a can of Raid near the man’s drink, and they believed it was the poison she used.

The woman was placed under arrest and booked into the Volusia County Jail. She is facing preliminary charges of one felony count of poisoning of food or water. She is being held without bond.
