A grandmother in Tennessee is facing several charges after an incident on Thanksgiving allegedly led her to stab two of her family members.
Holiday celebrations with family are often cited as stressful, and this year, family members in a household in South Memphis reportedly experienced a potentially dangerous situation involving a mother, her daughter, and her grandson. According to her daughter, the 55-year-old mother and grandmother was rather intoxicated after she had been drinking throughout the day. The woman allegedly shoved her grandson, and her daughter confronted her about it, which incited an argument between them about various subjects.
The verbal disagreement continued, and things intensified after the daughter turned her back. Her mother allegedly went into the kitchen and retrieved a knife. She reportedly ran up to her daughter and plunged the blade into her left hand. She also allegedly stabbed her grandson in his left hand. The authorities were notified, but the woman left before the police got to the home.
Officers from the Memphis Police Department headed to the address to investigate. When they got there, they noted there were three youngsters in the residence. It was presumed that they were there when the alleged knife attack occurred, and none of them appeared to have sustained physical injuries. The suspect’s daughter required medical attention, and the police talked to her at the hospital. She reportedly confirmed the details of the assault.
A while later, the woman was found, and the police took her into custody without incident. She was booked into the Shelby County Jail East Women’s Facility, and she is facing preliminary charges of aggravated assault – domestic violence, aggravated assault, and domestic assault.
