A woman in Canada is facing several charges after turning herself in for her alleged involvement in several recent auto thefts.
On the afternoon of September 6, an 18-year-old woman went to the Mississauga residence of a person with a 2022 Porche for sale. She let the owner know that she was interested in purchasing it, and she said her father was going to meet her so they could look at the vehicle. Before her dad arrived, the woman told the owner she would like to check it out.
He did not have a problem with her request, and the man allowed her to sit in the driver’s seat. He was walking behind the vehicle, and the woman reportedly backed over him before taking off in the Porche. The man got off the ground, and when the authorities got involved, he gave them footage from his doorbell camera that showed the incident as it happened.
On September 11, someone believed to be the same woman went to another person’s house under the guise of wanting to buy a car, and she allegedly drove away with it when she was checking it out. It was reported that she was accompanied by a man. Five days later, the same pair is suspected of trying to steal a third vehicle during a prepurchase meeting in a parking lot, but the owner decided to call off the deal and drove away. The police shared surveillance footage with the public and asked for their help to locate the suspects.
On September 19, the woman turned herself in. She is currently facing preliminary charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, failing to remain after an accident resulting in bodily harm, and driving without a license. She was released on bail, but the Toronto Police Department took her back into custody due to their investigation of recent car thefts.
It was reported that the alleged victim had injuries to his elbow, hands, and legs, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
