After allegedly being caught while engaging in a sexual act together inside of a vehicle parked next to a playground, two Catholic priests are facing charges.
Just before 3:30 pm on September 4, a Volkswagen containing two men was reportedly parked on Ocean Drive in Miami Beach next to a park near the playground.
Due to the popularity of the location, there were several people in the area, and someone believed that they saw the men inside the vehicle partaking in oral sex and a call was placed to report it to the police.
The authorities located what they believed was the Volkswagen that the caller had described as it was reportedly still parked in the spot and had two men inside. As the officers walked up to the car they reported that the men were very distracted by the sexual acts they were allegedly taking part in and that they had to tap on the window before their presence was noticed.
The police arrested 39-year-old Diego Berrio, and 30-year-old Edwin Giraldo Cortez were the inhabitants of the vehicle and the alleged suspects responsible for the public sex acts.
Cortez is facing accusations of lewd and lascivious behavior, and indecent exposure and his bond was set at $500.
Berrio is facing a lewd and lascivious behavior charge and he was ordered a $250 bond amount.
Cortez and Berrio were released from jail on bond, and as stated in a public release from the Archdiocese of Chicago neither of the men will be granted the ability to keep their positions as priests and they have been removed from the ministry based on the allegations.
