Texas Deputy with Online Ad Suspected of Solicitation of Minor

A patrol sergeant who has been with the Denton County Sheriff’s Office for over two decades was accused of soliciting sex from a minor with an online advertisement after he allegedly arranged a sexual encounter with an officer posing as a 16-year-old boy.

46-year-old Weston Jordan, a man who began his career as a detention officer and was promoted over time to the position of patrol sergeant, has worked with the Denton County Sheriff’s office for 25 years.

On Tuesday investigators began an in-depth examination of Jordan’s activities after gaining awareness of a Craigslist ad he allegedly posted seeking sexual relations with underage gay males. One of the investigators posed as a 16-year-old boy and contacted Jordan with a fake profile and using it to respond with interest, but he explained that he was without transportation.

After a bit of online dialogue between Jordan and the fabricated boy’s account Jordan allegedly offered him a ride after the teenager agreed to spend the night with him and supplied an address where he could be picked up.

On the evening of March 13 officers from the Department of Public Safety stopped a vehicle one block away from the address that the undercover investigator gave as the location where the boy from the alleged interactions asked to be retrieved for the overnight sexual outing. When they questioned the driver he reportedly stated that he was in the area to meet with an 18-year-old man he met online. They searched him and located a piece of paper containing the address given by the investigator.

Jordan was arrested and faces a second-degree felony charge of online solicitation of a minor. He is currently being held in the Tarrant County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail.

Jordan, who worked solely at the Denton County Sheriff’s Office during his career and holds a master peace officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement, was fired from his position following his arrest.

Denton County Sheriff Tracy Murphree who has known Jordan for 20 years has expressed shock and shame concerning the charges. Additionally he stated that he believes Jordan “has brought dishonor to his profession and to this office.”
