3 Injured When Man Put Firecrackers Under Toilet Seats

A man in Texas reportedly injured three people, one of which was a youngster, after allegedly hiding fireworks under toilet seats in bathrooms at two different car washes.

According to reports, on July 20, a woman at a Wash Tub Car Center car wash in Helotes went to use their restroom. When she sat down on the toilet seat, an explosion went off and she was reportedly injured from the blast. After she left the location, she notified the police about her experience.

Within a week of the first reported blast, two individuals at the Wash Tub located in San Antonio had similar experiences. One of the alleged victims who works at the car wash was using the facilities. When she sat down, she reported that something made a loud popping sound, and it was reported that she was also physically hurt during the incident. A few minutes later, a young girl was using the bathroom when she became the third alleged victim of the unexpected detonation.

On July 27, the San Antonio Police Department opened an investigation and started to look into the situation. It was believed that it was caused by someone putting firecrackers that detonated from pressure under the toilet seats. Debris allegedly retrieved from the toilet areas was also given to the investigators. They collected video surveillance from the locations, and when they reviewed the footage, they believed they had identified the suspect they were seeking.

Employees at the car wash locations told the police they recognized the man as someone who often frequents their businesses. Using his membership card and vehicle license plate, they were able to track down the suspect.

A short time after he was booked into the Bexar County Jail on suspicion of one count of arson causing reckless damage or bodily injury, the man posted a $50,000 and was released from custody.
