4-Year-Old Left Alone in Car Outside Adult Shop

A New York couple has been accused of leaving a preschooler in a vehicle without supervision while they went shopping in an adult store.

Monae J. Blake, 28, and Victoria L. Mortensen, 25, are in a romantic relationship and reside in Utica. Mortensen has a 4-year-old child.

Around 8:00 pm on April 10, Mortensen and Blake reportedly went to the Amazing Intimate Essentials Adult Store in North Stonington, Connecticut. Mortenson’s child accompanied the couple on their excursion.

When they arrived at the store, Mortensen and Blake reportedly went inside, and the youngster was allegedly left alone in the vehicle.

Someone walked past the vehicle, and they called the authorities to alert them that they believed a child was by themselves in a car outside the establishment.

As stated in a press release, Troopers with the Connecticut State Police went to the address, and they reported that the youngster was still in the car “with no parents or guardians in sight.”

When the officers went into the shop to see if they could find an adult responsible for the child, they reportedly identified Mortensen and Blake while the women were buying items.

The authorities asserted that the youngster was left by themselves for at least 15-minutes while the women perused the store’s inventory.

Mortensen and Blake were placed under arrest, and the Department of Children and Families was made aware of the situation.

Mortensen is facing charges for suspicion of risk of injury to a minor and leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle. She was incarcerated on a $7,500 bond.

Blake is expected to be charged for leaving a child unsupervised in a motor vehicle, and she was jailed on a $5,000 bond.
