73-Year-Old Violently Attacked Outside Grocery Store

A suspect has been taken into custody after he allegedly brutally attacked a septuagenarian as the man was leaving a grocery store.

43-year-old Donald Ray Walker resides in Indian Lake Estates in Polk County, Florida.

In the afternoon on March 26, Walker and his family had a meal at a Chinese buffet in Southeast Plaza.

Later in the day, Walker was reportedly driving his Ford F-250 through the parking lot of the Public Market in Southeast Plaza.

When Walker drove past the front of the store, a 73-year-old man who had just left the market was trying to use the crosswalk. Walker allegedly nearly struck the man with his vehicle.

It was reported that the man yelled at Walker as he slowed his truck down.

Surveillance video shows a man believed to be Walker approaching and striking the man as they argued, and then getting back into the truck.

The alleged victim told Walker he was going to call the authorities and walked towards the truck.

Walker reportedly went back over to him and pushed the man onto the ground. The video showed the man lying on his back as Walker punched him in the face many times. Walker allegedly grabbed and destroyed the man’s phone before fleeing the scene.

The authorities reported that they reviewed surveillance footage from the Chinese buffet, and they believe the man who had been eating at the establishment was the same person who attacked the man at the store. They asserted that Walker was the suspect they were seeking.

Police obtained a warrant for Walker’s arrest on March 28.

Walker turned himself in at the Polk County Jail on the morning of March 29. At the time of this writing, the charges that Walker may face have not been disclosed. No other details of his arrest have been made public at this time.
