On the evening of July 13, a 38-year-old woman and her sister were having a dispute in a Miami home.
The Miami-Dade Police Department went to the residence on a domestic violence call, and the women were reportedly still going at it when they arrived.
According to reports, although the police were present, the situation between the sisters continued to heat up and reportedly became physical. The 38-year-old allegedly punched her sister in the face in front of the officers on site.
It was reported that the authorities planned to depart from the residence since neither of the women would give them an official statement about what happened.
Before the officers left, the women started fighting again, and the pair allegedly began heaving household items at each other.
The 38-year-old allegedly grabbed a bottle of HDX muriatic acid, which is used for managing the pH level in swimming pools but can cause burns and blindness in humans. She reportedly threw the bottle in her sister’s direction, but instead of the chemical hitting the woman, it hit her daughter instead.
The youngster’s name and age were not disclosed, but it was reported that the chemicals covered the child’s body and caused injuries.
The 38-year-old woman was taken into custody and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. She is facing charges for one count of felony aggravated child abuse, one count of felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of misdemeanor battery $7,500. According to court records, she has an arraignment scheduled on August 11.
