Detective Crashed into Parked Car while Driving Drunk

An off-duty detective was arrested when the police asserted that he was driving under the influence last weekend after he crashed into a parked car.

According to reports, early in the morning on July 14, a vehicle was being driven erratically through a neighborhood in Clifton, Kentucky. After crossing over the center line, the car smashed into an automobile that was parked on the opposite side of the street. No one was inside the parked car at the time, but other people who witnessed the incident called the authorities to let them know what happened.

Officers from the Louisville Metro Police Department headed to the location to investigate. The driver was no longer in the vehicle, but he was quickly found nearby. It was reported that when he was asked about the crash, he initially said he believed two individuals got out of the vehicle and quickly left the area.

While they were talking, the police believed that the man, who was identified as a 34-year-old Louisville Police detective, smelled like he had been drinking alcohol and displayed physical signs of being intoxicated. When asked if he had anything to drink, he reportedly said he had two beers. The detective took roadside sobriety tests, but the officers noted that he performed poorly. When he took a breath test, the results showed that his blood-alcohol level was 0.135.

The man was taken into custody and booked into the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He is facing a preliminary charge of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. According to a report released from the Louisville Metro Police Department, the detective was placed on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing.
