Bartender Stabbed Customer 10 Times During Fight About Tab

A bartender is in jail after allegedly stabbing a customer multiple times during an altercation that began over a bar tab and derogatory comments made about the victim’s deceased mom.

According to reports, on August 31, a man was hanging out at Grumpy’s Underground bar in Orlando, and he had a dispute with the bartender, who was new on the job. The employee reportedly tried to bill the customer for drinks he did not receive, and they began arguing. After the bartender allegedly made multiple profane comments to him, the patron invited the employee to go outside to handle things. The pair left the building, and things quickly escalated.

The bartender reportedly said something vulgar about the man’s deceased mother, and he responded by striking him hard enough that he fell down. The situation took a violent turn when the bartender allegedly pulled out a blade and stabbed the man ten times. It was reported that another patron spotted the fight and reported it to the police. When they reached the scene, the suspect had already taken off, and they noted that the alleged victim had seven stab wounds on his back and three on his head. When the police talked to the bar manager, they said they thought they had settled the issue for the customer.

On August 5, the 30-year-old man was taken into custody on an arrest warrant and booked into the Orange County Jail. He is facing a preliminary charge of attempted second-degree murder with a weapon. According to facility records, at the time this was written, the suspect was still behind bars.

The alleged victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
